ANTIQUE UNION TOOL COMPANY ORANGE MASS USA SQUARECARPENTER'S SQUARE
I wiped it down some but didn't want to do much to it. I think it's cool as is but you may want to clean it up some more.
AWESOME PATINA
I just love the scroll look to the head, too.
Something you don't see in today's China junk.
GREAT FOR DISPLAY, A COLLECTOR, OR CLEAN IT UP SOME MORE AND USE IT!
YOUR GREAT-GRANDKIDS WILL PROBABLY BE USING THIS QUALITY AMERICAN MADE TOOL!
I believe this was made in the 1920's from what I have been able to find through some research.
The head is the type with no scribe or level bubble, but is good quality, suitable for metal working as well as other types of material.
The graduations are in inches, the blade is 12 inches long and the square head can be positioned and tightened in about any position you choose, slide the square head to the position on the blade you want it, or flip it over to the other side if you wish.
There are 2 different type inch gradations on each side, so 4 different gradations in total!. The square head has some paint loss as you can see in the photos.
Ruler slides easily into the slot and screw head tightens down nicely, holding the ruler at the measurement you desire.
Square head is 4 & 1/4 inches long, and 3 & 1/2 inches wide.
The square head appears to have been black at some point but worn to the gray now.
PLEASE SEE PHOTOS-- THIS IS AN ANTIQUE PRE-OWNED USED TOOL in
Good serviceable condition. Some oxidation, some pitting. One end on one side is hard to read the measurement markings.
